West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

Challenge

West Suffolk Community Nursing services required a more consistent and measurable approach to understanding quality, productivity and workforce utilisation across six regional teams. Leaders needed clearer visibility of local variation, skill mix deployment, referral patterns and operational pressures, alongside objective benchmarking against other providers.

Approach

West Suffolk deployed Benson Community across Community Nursing services, expanding usage to approximately 30 operational users across the organisation. Benson was used to analyse workforce allocation, intervention duration, referral metrics, productivity and benchmarking data to support governance, service reviews and operational improvement discussions.

The programme supported

skill mix optimisation for insulin administration activity

monitoring of assessment duration and data quality variation

referral intensity and repeat referral analysis

external benchmarking against peer providers

evidence-based service level reviews and productivity assessment

Outcomes

Impact

The deployment helped embed a more data-driven approach to operational management, quality improvement and workforce planning across Community Nursing services. Benson provided teams and senior leaders with measurable operational evidence to support governance, challenge variation and inform future service transformation programmes.
